| What exactly is the school's policy on students who start fights? Do they just make it up as they go along or do they expel troublemakers? Who decides and on what standards? |

I was told it is "zero tolerance" vor fighting.
Based on experience, they must have thought the kids were groping each other rather than fighting. . . as that seems to be allowed. |

It's a strange thing that in our child's middle school class, the same three or four boys are suspendied repeatedly for fighting or cursing. One new student this year says the "f" word on an almost hourly basis to someone, but is yet allowed to continue at GCS after at least three suspensions because he is an ace basketball player. The kids think it is a joke. If they fight or swear, they get to go home, complete their work, and come back the next day. Nothing like a mini-vacation in the middle of the week! Some of these same boys were in trouble this week for taking phone photos of a young female teacher's body parts right in class. (Mind you she was reported to be wearing red undergarments under white clothes). For that (photos on the phone mind you) they got an afternoon detention. Cameras recently showed a horrible incident on an area school bus. I'm afraid we all might be shocked of what we might see if GCS indeed had hall cameras.
Discipline is out of hand, and that is a major reason that we will more than likely be somewhere else in the fall. Sad, but true. |

WOW
I am on someone else's computer, today, and don't wish to use my pass code but John and several others on this site know who I am.
My son interrupted such an assault on a girl in the hallway by physically confronting the other boy. He then went to the principals office. Finch's official response was to the tune of, "Don't bother me right now, I'm trying to go home".
The next week he returned to the office and the response was one of, "Why are you bothering me with this?!?!".
When the girl's mother went to the office, the response was, "boys will be boys".
I was warned at indoctrination, that GCS had a zero tolerance on fighting. In the 11 years we were there, I saw boys and girls draw blood, bullying of smaller classmates, and boys hit female teachers without punishment.
I know it goes on in public and to a much worse extent. But we will not tolerate it in private school.
I pay big bucks for private for the same reason teachers accept less pay to work at private . . . there should be (and is elsewhere) a sense of decorum that GCS and public schools do not have.
Yep, GCS needs help but we are just fine as our new school. |
